Rosarian Academy Gives Lesson On Southern Hospitality

The accent was decidedly Southern at The Breakers when Rosarian Academy hosted its 38th annual Rose Ball.

No, you didnÕt suddenly lose eight months. Organizers for the event, which for decades has taken place at The Breakers in November, moved it to March to better synch with the school year and to dodge the busy holiday schedule.

Fireflies and Bowties, an homage to growing up in the South, took place March 10.

Jackie Breckenridge and Amy Guerrieri were chairwomen for the evening, which began with a cocktail reception and the legendary high-tech silent auction, where bids were placed with smartphones and iPads.

After the reception, guests moved to the Mediterranean Ballroom for dinner, a live auction conducted by Jim Arrigo, raffle prizes and dancing.

More than 240 people attended.

Proceeds from the event help Rosarian Academy, an independent school, to bridge the gap between tuition revenue and the cost of educating students.
